At Mephisto Media & Entertainment, we are passionate about supporting and growing the local music scene. As experienced, professional musicians who’ve done it before, we know how difficult it is for you – the musician – to focus on creating a good product, writing brilliant licks and melodies whilst trying to book your own gigs. It’s a nightmare.

We believe in allowing our musicians to focus on what they do best – being musicians – whilst we handle all of the other “stuff” that’s needed to have a successful career. We handle our musicians’ public portfolios, making sure they stay relevant in the music industry and media by getting them radio, television, newspaper and magazine features and interviews. We know the industry, we have 18yrs experience in it, and we know how difficult it is for musicians to negotiate suitable rates for themselves, and the clients’ struggle to find musicians who won’t charge exorbitant rates. That’s another area where you can rely on us. We make sure that our musicians play at a rate which is suitable for our clients whilst also compensating them sufficiently for their talents.

We are communications specialists with a focus on the creative arts, its practitioners and entertainment spaces. Our aim is to manifest, modify, enhance, and protect the business objectives of our clients by conceptualising quality experiences with targeted clientele based on the exceptional presentation of media and events.

Our carefully balanced combination of knowledge, innovative approach to communications, and extensive expertise enhances our capabilities to effectively execute memorable experiential moments.

We don’t acquire clients, we develop relationships. Our dedication to operational excellence coupled with our passion for extraordinary ideas, means that our strategic communications solutions and bespoke events are not just campaigns; they’re works of heart.

We’re constantly on the lookout for bands that are ready to crossover and join the upper echelon of performing artists in South Africa. We handle regional and national gigs, highly successful national and international tours and performances which have aligned our artists with dozens of local and international legends.

If you’d like us to listen to your band, advise you on your product or would just like to let us know that you’re around, feel free to contact us and we’ll see how we can help you out.

Having formed in 2013, the decision for Zuko Collective to record their debut album, Relationtrips, came organically, motivated by countless successful performances and requests from die-hard fans, to whom they will offer first listen of the inspired creation at an exclusive listening session hosted at the SABC Radio Park on 23 September 2015.

In just two short years Zuko Collective have managed to solidify their position as one of South Africa’s most celebrated acts, playing on main stages of several major festivals and events such as MTN Bushfire Festival in Swaziland, the TedX JHB, and the launch of ETV’s Ashes to Ashes  television show, to name  a few. Recently, Zuko Collective were chosen over scores of entries to perform at the upcoming Standard Bank Joy of Jazz Johannesburg main stage.

Zuko Collective, led by the husky and enchanting vocals of Nozuko Mapoma, describe themselves as a movement, and its members the instruments. The musical relationship between this collective of astute musicians with over ten years’ experience, can be described as nothing short of a spiritual.  Boasting an eclectic sound which comprises progressive jazz with traditional African elements, they tend towards a fusion of alternative sounds of Caribbean feel with an indigenous essence. The band is able to capture contrasting emotions into single songs that ultimately compiles a spiritually awakening, therapeutic and upbeat product.

Essentially, we are creative freedom victors. Every sound and soul from each member assembles to entertain and assert influence. It is a big statement to make, but we want to change lives through our music

The album, titled Relationtrips, takes you on an enchanting journey through diverse sound and colorful lyric. Mapoma’s vocals, likened to that of Simphiwe Dana and Busi Mhlongo, carry the audience with ease over highs and lows, her masterful expression and theatrical performance leaving audiences in awe.

“The brilliance of the band is in its ability to harness Nozuko’s peculiar and otherworldly musicality that emanates from her husky voice and the accompanying intermittent throaty reflexes. In their live performance, I thought she was masterful but listening to their newer music, I think more of a possessed musician who delivers from spaces and recesses within her that we mere mortals will never know the pleasures of visiting.” – Vanguard Magazine.

Zuko Collective will sample some of their never-before-heard music at the listening session on 23 September 2015 at SABC Radio Park, ahead of the album’s online release on iTunes the following day.

RSVP info@mephistomedia.co.za before 18 September 2015. Tickets will be available for R50 at the door.
